Cover shows a coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of a slice through a cell of the hormone-secreting Islet of Langerhans in a human pancreas. Granules (orange) secrete hormones, mainly insulin and glucagon, into the blood. These hormones control blood-sugar levels.
Magnification: × 30,000 when printed 10 centimetres wide.
